Explain your username: back in the Olden Days (early 1980s) when I got engaged, I would moan (occasionally) about the difficulties of househunting and declaim I want a Nest! A colleague gave me a card with a picture of an eagle in a T-shirt on which he had written my fiancé's initials, and a chick in a nest on which he had written 'Pen's Nest'. I have lived in Nests ever since. I didn't have the chance to take Pensnest as a username for more than a decade, not until Compuserve let me have a name instead of a number, but it has been my internet name ever since. Though in my early fanfiction.net days my pen name was Eve Robinson.
Favorite season (it's ok if it's not summer): Spring. Watching the snowdrops, the snowflakes, daffodils and crocuses, hyacinths, bluebells and lilacs follow one another across my garden is wonderful. Watching the trees go from stark to bud-laced to full leaf is wonderful. Also, magnolias. Autumn is a close second, my kind of colours.
What's your vibe? I'm too old and staid to have a vibe, but not quite grumpy enough to be a curmudgeon.

Fandoms: FINAL FANTASY. I've played all 16 mainline games, including both MMORPGs. There's not a day that goes by that I'm not thinking about the franchise in some way.
Favorite Characters: Alisaie & Alphinaud (FFXIV), Yuna (FFX), Zidane (FFIX), Vivi (FFIX), Joshua (FFXVI), Dion (FFXVI), Bartz (FFV)... just a few off the top of my head.

Explain your username: Okay, so YEARS AGO I was going to start playing Final Fantasy XI, which is an MMORPG, but I am Shy with a Capital S, so I knew I would be soloing a lot. Therefore, I picked Red Mage as my starting job. Red Mage can dish out damage, both from melee attacks with swords and from black magic, but can also heal with white magic. I needed a name for my character, and thus I searched baby name sites. "Althea" means "healer", and some site I found in the past but can't find again said that "Valara" meant "fierce one"... so hence, Althea Valara, a perfect Red Mage name. I love the name and am very comfortable using it as my own.
Favorite season (it's ok if it's not summer): Autumn. I was born in the fall, and I love the cooler weather and the crunch of dead leaves under your feet. Plus it's PUMPKIN SEASON! I love all things Pumpkin.
What's your vibe? Well, I suffer from anxiety a lot so I could say "anxious", but I'll go with the vibe of my Twitch streams, which are chill, passionate about the games, and have a splash of silliness.

Solarpunk is sort of a mixed environmental and artistic movement that's focused on nature and community as a lens for a more sustainable future. So renewable energy (especially solar, of course!), anticolonialism/antiracism, DIY, growing your own food, refusing pessimism, environmentally integrated architecture, that sort of thing. I think it's very cool!

Explain your username: Many years ago when I had to come up with a username, I was into CATS with my daughter AND I have been obsessed with Alexander the Great since I was in 3rd grade so... alexcat came about.
Favorite season (it's ok if it's not summer): Fall. It reminds me of buying notebooks and pencils when I was a kid, as well as the county fair, Halloween and my birthday in November. An added bonus is cool weather.

What do you post about? Well, I'm relatively new and so still finding my feet. So far it's a mix of day to day miscellaneous musings and fannish stuff, and tracking my writing progress/process! How often do you post? Uh...sporadically? I was posting every day for a bit, but to be more realistic, probably a few times a week? Still figuring out what works!

Fandoms: The all consuming one is link click (aka shiguang dailiren)--it kind of takes up 80% of my brainspace at any given time. Because of how intense the hyperfixation is, I've almost forgot (?) what other fandoms I'm in LOL. But past fandoms that stick out to me are sk8 the infinity, mdzs/tgcf, jwqs (a Chinese GL novel that Will ruin your life), fgep (by the same author of jwqs), Couple of Mirrors (a live action Chinese GL, also has a manhua). More recently to be hero x!

I also like animated media generally. I love to read a variety of physical books, really into queer litfic, though I'm not the fastest reader. Other things include long video essays, vtubers, the colour pink (I mean this to say that I love and have a Lot of pink things), lesbian history, many other things... :O
