I juggle a lot of fleeting interests that I get fannish about while they're present and then hardly ever touch again.

Explain your username: Lumiose City is (functionally) the hub city in Pokémon X and Y versions. It's not my favorite city in the games, but I wanted a Pokémon-themed username and Sootopolis (my favorite city!) was already taken.
Favorite season (it's ok if it's not summer): Winter! It's entirely too hot and humid in my corner of the world for summer to be all that enjoyable, unfortunately.
What's your vibe? A pineapple-mango smoothie spiked with coconut rum, with a smudge of strawberry lip balm on the straw.
What is your summeriest fandom? (You can interpret this however you like….): I want to say Pokémon; it's heavily linked to childhood nostalgia (something inherently summer-y, in my eyes) and the concept of running around the world having adventures feels like a very summer thing to do.

When I posted my first poetry online, I needed a surname to go with "Meep" and thought "Matsushima" sounded good. (Tje "pine island" in

pineisland_dolls is a translation of the kanji 松島.)
Favorite season: I love springtime! It's not too hot and I'm always so happy to watch the different flowers bloom in their own time, starting with the plum blossoms in Janaury/February, then the cherry blossoms in March/April, and the hydrangeas in May/June, and so on…

To be rather broad, I've been a long time fan of anime and manga and more recently I've gotten into the furry fandom. Explain your username: I started using Quails as a handle a couple years back, when coming up with usernames some of the ones I'd use were uuuuuzura or QuailsEgg. In the end I settled on QuailMail because the rhyming is fun and I do like sending and receiving letters... Or I like the idea of it, I haven't done any letting exchanges in over a decade.
Favorite season: The transitional periods are the best! When it starts warming up after winter or cooling down after summer I always feel at ease.
What's your vibe? Unfortunately, my vibe-checker is broken.
What is your summeriest fandom?: Saying The Summer Hikaru Died feels like a bit of a cop-out, but Mokumokuren really does utilise the oppressive feeling of a hot, muggy summer to its fullest!

As for type of visual kei, at their very start they were okeshou kei (generally kind of looks like glam rock, but in their specific case they wore chic suits with their hair bleached and straight up like Polnareff or Guile or Benimaru), then they were kurofuku kei (this just means wearing cool outfits in all black, crazy hair optional), and around 1994 and beyond they can be called either soft visual (not super crazy-looking, but definitely more unique-looking than your average Joe on the street) or not vkei at all.

Their sound was beat rock (a pretty Japan-only type of rock music) during the okeshou kei era, during the kurofuku kei era they were beat rock with strong elements of post-punk or new wave, and beyond they have done all types of rock -- more post-punk, new wave, goth rock, garage rock, industrial, grunge, electronic... generally they can be called alt rock.

Most of the popular visual kei bands these days are metalcore, and I'm not huuuuuge on metal. Definitely don't hate it, I guess I prefer songs that sound depressed over angry?

Fandoms: Pokémon X&Y is my main fandom but I love all things Pokémon. I like videogames in general, with pretty broad tastes. I have big monofandom tendencies so it can be hard for me to be fannish about new things, but that doesn't mean I don't want to discuss them. Some recent examples have been Severance, Arcane, and Squid Game.
Favorite Characters: Lysandre from Pokémon X&Y is my ultimate blorbo!!! It's kind of hard to name others when he takes up so much space LOL.

What do you post about? Media/books/video games I'm checking out or thinking about checking out, occasional music posts, fic/drabbles, funny/cool stuff I've seen elsewhere. My interests are pretty varied! I'm in the midst of trying to caught up on posting multifandom drabbles that I started this winter. I'm a huge drabble fan!
How often do you post? Not nearly enough. Hoping that this revival will revive my journal a bit as well! :D RL stuff is locked but I'm always open to new folks.
What communities, if any, are you involved in? None really at the moment, but I'm always on the lookout for something that piques my interest.
What kind of accounts do you like to follow? I love following journals of folks who are passionate about something/anything, it doesn't even have to be a major interest of mine. Fannish excitement brought me to LJ/DW in the first place and that's what keeps me here.

Fandom Stuff
Fandoms: I cut my teeth on HP fandom and while I'm phasing out of that I still occasionally read/write because it's near and dear and queer to my heart. In no particular order: Baldur's Gate 3, Star Wars (especially The Mandalorian, Andor, The Book of Boba Fett, Rogue One) Star Trek (old and new, too many to list here), Letterkenny, Interview with a Vampire, Derry Girls, Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett version), The Venture Bros and Nimona. I'm a huge Dimension20 fan and am really enjoying Cloudward Ho! I will probably get around to watching The Old Guard 2.
Favorite Characters: This is always a hard one for me! Probably any number of D20 characters, but as I get older I also find myself overly fond of older characters.
Ships: Not really a shipper, I will put almost any two and two together. Oh wait, that's four. :D
Things you're into but not fannish about: I am seriously obsessed with birding! I also got into powerlifting this year which has been so much fun (getting over an injury but hope to get back into it soon). My goal is to be a Birdability Captain as I feel the outdoors should be accessible to everyone. I'm also a big fan of bird walks with my local Feminist Bird Club. I'm also significantly hard of hearing (which is a great irony, but hell if I'm gonna let it stop me).

Explain your username: It's German for "whale song!" It has to do with my icon, which I've had as my default for over 20 years now. My former username was German, so it was a hat tip to the old me. (some of my fic is still online under _hannelore)
